Swansea City striker Joel Piroe knows nothing about reported interest from Premier League giants Leicester City, speaking to the Football League Paper ahead of the January transfer window.
The Swans reached the Championship play-off final last season.
When you consider that Steve Cooper didn’t have a single orthadox centre-forward at his disposal, that is an achievement that looks even more impressive in hindsight.
But would Swansea be a top-flight team again if Piroe had arrived at the Liberty Stadium 12 months earlier?
The Dutchman has scored an impressive 12 goals in 22 games since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in July after all. Just for context, their top scorer from the whole of last term – Andre Ayew – netted just 17.
Will Joel Piroe leave Swansea for Leicester City?
Cooper’s successor, Russell Martin, will be desperate to retain the services of his deadly Dutchman, especially when you consider that Piroe is just a few months into his time in South Wales.
The Swansea Independent believe that Leicester have scouted Piroe on four separate occasions recently with a potential £10 million deal on the cards.
“No, I haven’t heard anything about that,” Piroe said when quizzed about Leicester’s interest.
The 22-year-old, who found the net just once in the Eredivisie for PSV, admits that he would love to play top-flight football again.
For now, however, he is loving life at the Liberty. Piroe is in no rush to pack his bags again.
“Of course, you always want to reach the top. As a professional player, that should be everyone’s ambition,” Piroe adds.

“But I just want to enjoy the moment I am in right now. Swansea is perfect for me because I am doing what I always wanted.
“I’ve settled really well in Swansea. The people here who work for the club, everybody around it. They have welcomed me really well and the same goes for the players.
“It has made it feel like home, even in such a short time. Even the weather is not too bad at the minute so I cannot complain.”
Piroe’s partner-in-crime, the majestic Jamie Paterson, has also been linked with a mid-season switch.
West Brom want to inject a dash of creativity into their underperforming attack, having dropped points in five of their last seven Championship games.
