Celtic secured a potentially-important point away at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Celtic gained what could prove to be a hugely valuable point from their Champions League group-stage clash with Borussia Monchengladbach, and while Brendan Rodgers will surely praise the entire team for their efforts, one player perhaps deserves more credit than the rest.

It has often been said this season that Scott Brown has looked a different player under Rodgers to the one that struggled to stamp his authority on games during the latter stages of Ronny Deila’s tenure.

And his latest display not only helped the Hoops keep their hopes of remaining in the competition beyond the current stage alive, but it also saw him top the stats in one key area of any player playing in Europe’s premier competition on Tuesday night.

As well as finishing inside the top 10 for the most successful passes and overall touches, Brown managed to register two successful tackles and one clearance, while also winning three duels.

But it was his reading of the game in Germany for which he undoubtedly deserves an enormous amount of praise. The 31-year-old made seven interceptions during the draw with Gladbach, which put him ahead of the likes of Jerome Boateng, Philipp Lahm and Francis Coquelin.

And with games against Barcelona and Manchester City ahead in their final two fixtures, Rodgers will be hoping that Brown can replicate his excellent display as it will undoubtedly boost Celltic’s hopes of picking up the points they need to keep their European adventure going.
