Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Erik ten Haag’s Manchester United will go ‘toe to toe’ for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to The Independent.
The report has claimed that Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United both are keen on signing Nunez from Benfica in the summer transfer window.
Benfica reportedly want £100 million for the 22-year-old Uruguay international striker.
The Independent have added that although Nunez favours a move to Liverpool, his camp are prepared to listen to what Manchester United have to be say.
United are embarking on a new era under manager Erik ten Haag.
Liverpool or Manchester United for Darwin Nunez?
In our view, Liverpool would be a better option than Manchester United than Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
If Sadio Mane leaves Anfield, then Nunez could just take his place in the team.

The Benfica star plays mainly as a striker, so he could operate centrally in a front-three alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.
However, Nunez will have to be aware of the competition he will face at Liverpool.
Let’s not forget that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino at his disposal as well.
Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo is a leading figure at Manchester United, but he is not getting any younger and Nunez could become the main man upfront at Old Trafford.
Nunez scored 26 goals and gave four assists in the Portuguese league and scored six goals in the Champions League this past season.
