Some Sheffield United fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported by Sky that Newcastle United are interested in Sander Berge?

What’s the story with Berge?

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing a few of the Championship’s top talents in January, and Berge is a player who has caught their eye.

The Norwegian spent last season in the Premier League with Sheffield United, but he hasn’t played much football over the past 12 months due to a string of injuries.

Berge was touted for big things as a youngster, but as of yet, he’s not produced the good.

Realistic signing

Berge may not be the most exciting signing Newcastle can make right now, but it is a realistic one.

Indeed, it’s not hard to imagine that the Norway international would jump at the chance to join the Magpies. After all, Sheffield United are mid-table in the Championship and the Tyneside club are richest club in the world and also playing in the Premier League.

Fan reaction

While Berge hasn’t been excellent since joining the Blades, Sheffield United supporters still don’t want to lose him.

Indeed, fans were touting huge fees for the midfielder, while others were full of praise for him.

It seems as though Newcastle coming in for Berge wouldn’t be a popular move in the Steel City.
