Sead Kolasinac had a brilliant start to life away from Arsenal after being loaned out earlier this month.
Ten days after leaving the Gunners to join Schalke for the rest of the season, the Bundesliga side ended a 30-match winless streak.
Kolasinac, who earns £100,000 per week at Arsenal, enjoyed a stunning 4-0 win over Hoffenheim on his debut.
But things have gone downhill for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international since then.
Three successive defeats followed for Schalke, who undermined their own good work against Hoffenheim on January 9.
But the German side stopped the rot on Saturday with a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen.
The left-back, who joined Arsenal in 2017, had a decent game, winning three duels, but he also lost possession on 14 occasions, according to a post-match graphic of his performance.
That being said, he also set up a goalscoring chance for the strugglers, who remain rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga table after winning just eight points from 19 matches so far this season.
Kolasinac will only have one year left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium when he returns to North London this summer.
