Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is in talks to join Atletico Madrid on loan before the transfer window closes.
According to the Daily Mail, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is currently having discussions about a temporary switch to Atletico.
His departure could pave the way for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher to join Tottenham, with the same outlet reporting that the north London club are interested in the 23-year-old but a deal depends on Hojbjerg’s future.
If Tottenham are to sign Gallagher, the England international will not come cheap.
As per journalist Ben Jacobs, it will take offers of £50m for Chelsea to start listening.
Gallagher has featured regularly under Mauricio Pochettino so far, starting the Blues’ 2-1 Carabao Cup win against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday as captain.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should join Atletico Madrid
If Hojbjerg wants regular game time this season, then he probably does need to leave Tottenham for another club like Atletico.
This early stage of Ange Postecoglou’s tenure suggests that the Spurs boss is not going to be relying on the 28-year-old.

Hojbjerg did not feature in Tottenham’s first Premier League game against Brentford at the start of the new campaign and only made appearances from off the bench in the two matches that followed.
Postecoglou seems to prefer Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, while Rodrigo Bentancur is another midfielder that the £100,000-a-week (Salary Sport) Denmark international will have to compete with once his team-mate returns from injury.
When you consider all of that, Hojbjerg leaving Tottenham for Atletico makes sense. It is not a terrible move either. In fact, with Diego Simeone’s side having won the La Liga title back in 2021 and currently participating in the Champions League, some would even argue that Hojbjerg would be upgrading.
All in all, then, the former Southampton man and Tottenham going their separate ways, at least for now, could be best for everyone.
