Some Celtic fans on Twitter are very interested in the possibility of bringing Fraser Forster back to Parkhead this summer.
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are keen on re-signing the Southampton goalkeeper.
Forster has had a couple of separate spells with the Hoops and they tried to re-sign him on loan last summer, but Neil Lennon failed to convince the player.
As it turns out, the England international, who has six caps for his country, should have agreed to return to Glasgow because he made only eight Premier League appearances with the Saints last season.
Celtic had to make do with Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain last term as the Bhoys finished 25 points behind new Premiership champions Rangers – and although you can’t directly blame Barkas or Bain, it’s clear that the Scottish giants do need a better goalkeeper.
And here’s how some Celtic fans reacted to the idea of Forster – a £10 million signing by Southampton in 2014 – coming back:
Opposition
There is definitely some opposition to this move from the same fanbase.
And that’s because Forster, as mentioned, turned down a move to Celtic 12 months ago.
But really, Ange Postecoglou has a much better chance of having a successful first season in Scotland with Forster than without him, because he’s simply a stronger goalkeeper than Barkas or Bain.
Remember, Rangers were miles better and more consistent than the Hoops last time around but maybe, just maybe, re-signing Forster could be a big factor in bridging that gap next term
