Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Mattéo Guendouzi sent a message to Unai Emery, following Villarreal’s win over Manchester United.

The 22-year-old praised the Spaniard after he secured his fourth Europa League title, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were beaten on penalties.

It’s clear there’s a mutual respect between the two. After all, Emery did hand Guendouzi 66 appearances for Arsenal while he was still an emerging youngster.

However, some Arsenal fans think Guendouzi might’ve also been aiming a dig at Mikel Arteta in doing so.

You can see the Frenchman’s tweet in full below.

Now, we can certainly understand why it’s being perceived that way by the Emirates Stadium faithful.

It’s a bit of a reach, but Guendouzi’s remark on human relationships is definitely interesting, given the state of his relationship with Arteta.

After insulting Brighton players back in June, Guendouzi was sent to train alone, and was given multiple chances to apologise for his actions according to Football London.

That was his last game for the club, before being sent on loan.

Now, after seeing Emery win a competition which Arteta failed to, some fans think the midfielder was taking aim at the Gunners boss.

What’s next for Guendouzi?

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens this summer.

Guendouzi has just finished a season on loan at Hertha Berlin, where he made 24 Bundesliga appearances and scored two goals.

If this really was a dig at Arteta, we can’t imagine the France Under-21 international will be trying too hard to impress the Spaniard during pre-season.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Guendouzi’s tweet…
