Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal will definitely be signing a striker in 2022, whether that be in January or in the summer.

Arsenal could certainly do with a striker through the door. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future is seemingly up in the air at the moment, while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts are both up in the summer.

Romano says that the Gunners will definitely be dipping into the market to bolster their attack.

What’s Romano said about Arsenal?

The journalist shared what he knows about the Gunners’ transfer plans.

“The expectation is that Arsenal will sign a striker. So they need to make a decision. They have many many strikers, also young talents like Nketiah and Balogun, so they need to make a decision on these boys, not only the big names,” Romano said.

“It’s a very complicated club to manage on this thing, because they have many senior players and young fresh players from a fantastic academy. Next season for 2022/23 they want a new striker who will join the club 100 per cent, if it’s not in January then it will be in the summer.”

Top priority

Signing a new striker should be the Gunners’ top priority this summer, and it’s great to hear that they’re keen to bring in a new forward.

Both Aubameyang and Lacazette could realistically be out of the door in the summer, so Arsenal need to have a replacement lined up.

Ideally, they’ll get their man in January and he can help them in their fight for a European spot this season, but as Romano says, if it’s not in January, it will be in the summer.

Keep an eye on any links to strikers over the next few weeks.
