Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been discussing Arsenal’s team selection against Bournemouth on Saturday and Thomas Partey.
The Ghanaian was on the bench for the Gunners in midweek against Everton, despite the fact Jorginho was reportedly battling with illness, and Campbell believes that it’s time for Partey to come back into the XI against the Cherries.
Indeed, Campbell says that Partey ‘100 per cent’ has to start this game, stating that he’d like to see Jorginho drop back to the bench and get himself back to full fitness after his recent bout of illness.

Partey to start
Campbell said that the ‘invaluable’ midfielder has to start this game.
“100 per cent he does. 100 per cent. I believe Jorginho was ill wasn’t he, but he played and that shows you that you want to play when you’re ill and you’ll go out there. We have Thomas Partey to come on though. For me, Partey starts against Bournemouth. Jorginho, if he hasn’t been right can go back to the bench no problem, but we can move and shake now, we have the players who can do it, the fans can see it, we can mix and match, if Partey ever feels anything Jorginho can come on and there won’t be a big drop off,” Campbell said.
Both good enough
Whether Partey or Jorginho start for Arsenal against Bournemouth remains to be seen, but the reality is that the Gunners should be able to get over the line either way.
Indeed, both players are more than capable of dominating the midfield against a team that is battling against relegation, and this is a match where small team selection decisions shouldn’t affect the outcome.
Of course, anything can happen in the Premier League, but we can’t help but feel that the Gunners will be heavy favourites in this game regardless of who starts.
