Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has been chatting about Tottenham and their interest in Tariq Lamptey.

The Brighton right-back has been linked with Tottenham for quite some time, and Mokbel is led to believe that Tottenham are 100 per cent interested in the defender.

However, sadly for Spurs, Mokbel claims that there’s absolutely no chance of a move happening this month, claiming that he’d be surprised if Brighton would even consider selling him in the next 18 months.

What’s been said about Lamptey?

The journalist shared what he knows about the defender.

“Spurs are 100 per cent interested in Lamptey, but you’re absolutely right, I reckon that isn’t one for now. There’s no way Brighton would even consider selling him now,” Mokbel said.

“He’s a really good player and I can see why the top six are going to go after him. I’m not even sure Brighton would sell this summer to be honest, it might be another 18 months before Brighton are prepared to listen to offers for Lamptey, but wherever he ends up, they’ll be getting a fantastic player. He’s very small in stature but everything about him is massive.”

Keep him in mind

Tottenham may have to wait 18 months before making their move for Lamptey, but they certainly should keep him in mind going forward.

As Mokbel says, this is a fantastic player. He’s one of the quickest players in the Premier League and he’s also incredible on the ball.

If Spurs manage to get their hands on Lamptey they will be getting one of the most exciting young defenders in the country.
