Jürgen Klopp has revealed that he thought Divock Origi was going to leave Liverpool during the summer transfer window.
What’s the story?
Well, speaking after Liverpool’s 3-2 win over AC Milan, Klopp said he didn’t expect the 26-year-old to still be at Anfield.
Liverpool’s official website quote the German as saying: “To be 100% honest, of course I thought he would maybe leave in the summer, but the football world is a crazy place and people obviously forgot how good he is.”
In truth, we didn’t expect him to stay either.
Origi was outscored by Alisson in the Premier League last season and only netted one goal in 17 appearances, which came in the Carabao Cup.
It really did look like his time at Anfield was up. However, a start against AC Milan last night suggests there’s still life in the Belgian’s Liverpool career.
Origi provided a brilliant assist for Mohamed Salah against the Italian giants, and certainly didn’t let anyone down.
Can Divock Origi revive his Liverpool career again?

When Origi flopped on loan at VfL Wolfsburg in 2017/18, many thought that was it for him on Merseyside.
However, he fought back to become a Premier League and Champions League winner, scoring important goals along the way.
Now, Origi has definitely taken a few steps backwards, although there’s clearly still a player in there somewhere.

With Roberto Firmino currently out injured, the £60,000-a-week forward has a great chance to get back in Klopp’s good books.
Should he follow last night’s performance up with another promising display against Crystal Palace on Saturday, who knows what could happen?
You just can’t keep Liverpool’s No.27 out of the limelight.
