Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing what Jack Grealish plans to do at Villa Park on Wednesday evening.

What’s the story?

Well, Grealish will be returning to Aston Villa for the first time since his £100m move to Manchester City back in August.

Speaking to the Telegraph, the 26-year-old revealed that he plans to applaud all four sides of Villa Park, no matter what the result is.

Grealish said: “Fingers crossed it [reception from the fans] will be a good one on Wednesday. I’ll clap all four sides of the ground no matter what. If I get booed it will be a bit awkward!”

Now, we’re not quite sure how that will go down if the Villans suffer defeat at the hands of the Citizens!

Having said that, it would be a shame if Grealish is booed for his actions, as he’s just a boyhood Aston Villa fan wanting to show his appreciation.

The England international departed the Midlands to the sound of abuse from a hurt fanbase, which made sense given how much they loved him.

However, if grudges are still being held now, even after the Villans received a British record fee for him and used the money to strengthen a number of areas, it would be disappointing.

Manchester City need more from Jack Grealish

It’s still early days, and Grealish is, of course, still adapting to life under Pep Guardiola, but it’s about time he showed why he cost £100m.

In 15 appearances this season, the Birmingham-born maestro has scored just two goals and provided three assists.

If Manchester City are to win the Premier League and the Champions League, Guardiola needs more from his No.10.

Admittedly, it’s difficult to dislodge players like Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez from the starting XI.

However, £100m players do not belong on the bench – Grealish must show Guardiola he deserves to start week in, week out.

For now, let’s see what the Manchester City fans on Twitter have been saying about his comments…
