Speaking on the Don Robbie YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on James Ward-Prowse amid interest from Spurs and Aston Villa.
Ward-Prowse is a player that has been on Villa’s radar for quite some time now, while it was reported earlier this week that Tottenham also want him.
Sadly for both clubs, Romano believes that getting Ward-Prowse out of Southampton is an uphill task, stating that he will be staying at St Mary’s unless something crazy happens.

Romano delivered an update on Ward-Prowse.
“It’s not going to be easy for Ward-Prowse to leave the club, 100%, it is going to be so, so difficult. Aston Villa were trying and Tottenham were asking about this situation, but the price is so high at the moment and at the moment there is nothing advanced, because the plan of the club is to keep the player, so unless something crazy is going to happen like a bid or an official bid in the coming days, I see him staying this season,” Romano said.
Need to keep him
Tottenham and Aston Villa fans may not like to hear this, but Southampton are making the right decision with the midfielder here.
Think about it, the Saints have already lost Danny Ings this summer, and it seems as though it’s only a matter of time before Jannik Vestergaard leaves as well.
If Ward-Prowse left on top of that they’d be in dire straits and they’d probably be risking the club’s Premier League status.
Southampton need to keep hold of Ward-Prowse at all costs, he’s simply that valuable to them.
