
For quite some time now, there has been a debate waging on social media about who is better between Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips and West Ham’s Declan Rice.
Even when Phillips was plying his trade in the Championship, Leeds supporters would insist that he was just as good as Rice and deserved a shot in the England team, while West Ham fans would laugh off these suggestions.
Now, a year into Phillips’ Premier League career, we’ve seen plenty of the pair at the top level, and we’ve also seen them play together for England a number of times, and it seems as though Leeds fans are finally waking up to how good Rice is.
As you can imagine, the topic of Rice vs Phillips came up again after England’s game against Poland, and the tone of the argument was a little different to what you may have expected.
Rather than Leeds fans sticking up for their hometown hero, they were actually happy to concede that Rice is a quality footballer, with some supporters even claiming that he’s a better player than Phillips.
Of course, not every Leeds fan will have this view, and the debate is still there to be had, but it is interesting to see how some Leeds fans now see that debate.
