West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has told Sky Sports that he will be taking the next penalty for his side.

Declan Rice was on penalty duties for West Ham last night, but he failed to convert from 12 yards.

The midfielder struck his spot kick fairly well, but hit the post with his shot, and the ball bounced away to safety.

At that time the miss looked costly for West Ham, as West Brom went down the other end and scored through Matheus Pereira.

However, Rice was bailed out by his teammates, with the Hammers ultimately going on to seal a 3-1 victory.

It means that West Ham can qualify for the Europa League if they are to win on the final day.

And it seems that if the Hammers do get a penalty, it will be Antonio who steps up to take it.

“100%,” the £7 million striker said (Sky Sports), when asked if he would be taking penalties.

“It was one of those things where the gaffer wanted him to take it. Seems like someone else needs to take it next week!”

Antonio may argue that he has earned the right to be taking West Ham’s penalties now.

The striker is the club’s top scorer this season, and found the back of the net again last night in the final minutes.

West Ham’s last game of the campaign comes against Southampton, and they will be favourites to pick up a victory in front of their own fans.
