Leeds United endured a disappointing night as they were beaten 4-1 by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.

With Pierre-Michel Lasogga currently sidelined, Kemar Roofe would have known that this current run in the team would have been a huge period in his Leeds career as he tried to prove that he deserved to be a regular fixture in his favoured position as a striker.

Playing well against Middlesbrough and Wolves would have been a fantastic statement from the former Oxford United man ahead of whenever his teammate returns from his spell on the sidelines.

And while he did put in an excellent display in the weekend win over Boro, his performance against Wolves surely left a lot to be desired as the statistics suggest.

Roofe spent nearly 70 minutes on the pitch at Molineux, but only managed to touch the ball 10 times for the Whites, making just two accurate passes and not dribbling once.

As the sole striker, it would be unfair to strongly criticise the 24-year-old as he may have often felt that he was isolated leading the line against the Championship leaders, and of course, his running and closing down the ball was part of the reason that the fans have appreciated his displays after watching Lasogga.

But he will know that if he gets the chance to stay in the team at the weekend against Barnsley – the supporters would be forgiven for wanting Caleb Ekuban to be given a chance at Oakwell – he will surely need to do a lot more as, without scoring the goals that Lasogga has to his name this term, his all-round performances needs to be of the highest quality if he hopes to get the prolonged run in the team that many feel he deserves.
