The respective transfer plans of Arsenal, Everton and Leicester City might just have been handed a timely boost thanks to events across the Channel.

According to Le10 Sport, St Etienne are under pressure to sell the Premier League-linked duo Wesley Fofana and Denis Bouanga as the dire financial situation in France continues.

Just last summer, Arsenal invested a huge fee in William Saliba as they won the race for one of the most talented centre-halves in European football. And, 12 months on, it seems the Gunners now have their heart set on snapping up Saliba’s defensive partner too.

Fofana may be just 19 but he is already one of the first names on St Etienne’s team-sheet. ButFootball claims that Arsenal and Everton are interested, while Leicester are also keen on an £18 million youngster (Le10) who has ‘enormous potential’, according to St Etienne and ex-Foxes coach Claude Puel.

Bouanga, meanwhile, is an exciting left winger who scored ten goals in 26 Ligue 1 games across 2019/20. Everton, according to the Mirror (17 May, page 63), believe they can snap up the Gabon international for as little as £8 million.

And with even the biggest clubs in France under pressure to raise funds via player sales, Everton could be in luck.

Le10 Sport claims that St Etienn, ten-time champions of Ligue 1, have a plan to get themselves out of a financial hole – one that revolves around finding buyers for both Bouanga and Fofana this summer.
