Aston Villa’s frustrating start to the Championship season continued as Brentford snatched a late 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
New signing Jonathan Kodjia opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes with a lovely curled effort – his first goal for the club.
The striker recieved Mile Jedinak’s and cut inside from the right before caressing a fine left-footed strike into the far-left corner.
But the Bees managed to stay in the match as the score remained at 1-0 and in the 88th minute their resilience paid off as John Egan bundled the ball over the line to earn the away side a point.
The result takes Brentford up to eighth in the table with 11 points while the Villains’ uninspiring start to the season continues as they lie 17th with just one win from their opening seven Championship matches.
