Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a gem in the form of Zak Rudden.

Billy Kirkwood has told Rangers TV that he’s been ever so impressed by Zak Rudden during his loan spell this season.

Rudden, on loan at Championship side Falkirk from Rangers, is the Bairns’ top goalscorer this season.

The 19-year-old, who has nine goals in 19 outings this season, is a very promising prospect at Auchenhowie.

And the Gers’ Loans Manager Kirkwood admits to the club’s official channel that Rudden ticks all the boxes from what he sees in the clips.

“We get his clips, yes there’s things that he can develop but I’ve got to say the lad gets 10/10 in the way he’s handled it,” he said.

“The psychological side, the maturity side, he’s done exceptionally well. We’re hoping that’s just one example, and hopefully many more follow.”

It’s certainly good for Rangers that Rudden – yet to make his competitive debut for the club – is doing so well, but long term, he has it all to do in order to succeed at Ibrox.

It isn’t a case of talent just right now, because the teenager has bags of ability, but there’s plenty of competition.

Forget about Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty in the senior side, there is also a layer of brilliant young strikers from the academy that Rudden needs to worry about going forward.

The light Blues also have Ryan Hardie – on loan at Livingston – and Andy Dallas, not to mention Dapo Mebude who has travelled with Steven Gerrard’s side for Europa League games earlier this season.
