West Bromwich Albion wanted Federico Chiesa earlier this year.

West Bromwich Albion’s hopes of signing Federico Chiesa may always have been slim, and they are pretty non-existent right now despite their hopes earlier in 2017.

Tuttomercatoweb reported in February 2017 that the Baggies sent scouts to watch Chiesa in action for Fiorentina against Torino.

Chiesa, son of former Italy international Enrico, has had an excellent year and has developed into one of his club’s brightest talents.

Talksport report citing La Stampa that Fiorentina now value Chiesa at a minimum of £53 million.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are both now taking an interest in the winger, but both clubs are likely to be put off by Fiorentina’s demands.

Chiesa is just 20-years-old and has scored four goals in 16 Serie A appearances this season for La Viola.

West Brom were always going to struggle to lure him away, and Fiorentina’s new valuation wipes out any slim chances they did have.

The only positive for the Baggies is that the club at least had the talented young Italian on their radar, and perhaps next time they will make a move earlier.
