The West Ham United forward is the subject of a £10 million bid from Crystal Palace, according to reports.
Whilst the 28-year-old has been a reliable servant to West Ham, the aforementioned figure would represent fantastic business for the club, and would allow David Moyes to strengthen in other areas of his squad.
Sakho joined the Hammers from Metz in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £3.5 million, and despite making an impressive start to life in east London, he has struggled for both fitness and form over the past 18 months.
Since the start of the 2016/17 season, the Senegal international has played just 21 games, and managed only five goals.
Moyes has plenty of other forward options including Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew, and the Scot should easily be able to cope without Sakho, especially considering the peripheral role he has played recently.
The Hammers squad is incredibly imbalanced, and the addition of a central midfielder and centre-back will be Moyes’ priority this month.
If he manages to sell Sakho for the reported fee of £10 million, he will be in a strong position to bring in some of his key targets.
It could be argued that selling the 28-year-old to a relegation rival is risky business, but with his poor goalscoring form recently, it might just be one worth taking for the Hammers, and for £10 million, who could blame them?
