Chelsea announced the summer signing of Marko Marin this weekend for a fee believed to be in the region of £7 million.

What can we tell you about the German?

1) Marin is 23 and arrives from Werder Bremen, for who he signed in 2009 from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

2) He was born in Bosnia, then Yugoslavia, but grew up in Frankfurt after his family moved to Germany in 1991.

3) Marin is a right-winger, who can also play as a central attacking midfielder.

4) This season he has played 21 league games, scoring one, and providing five assists.

5) Marin made his international debut in 2008, narrowly missing out on that year’s European Championships, after being selected in the provisional 26-man squad.

6) He did play at the 2010 World Cup, making substitute appearances in group games against Australia and Serbia.

7) According to Opta Sports, he has made 24 assists in the Bundesliga since the start of the 2009/10 season, bettered only by two players.

8) Marin is in the top 20 dribblers in the Bundesliga, for the number completed per game. The man at the top of the list is former Chelsea youngster Gokhan Tore.

9) He is only 5ft 7 in height, but has thrived despite his lack of physical presence by his pace, trickery, and technical skills.

10) He has played once against Chelsea’s Champions League final opponents Bayern Munich this season, and was unable to stop his team losing 4-1.
