The Leeds United defender was again on top form as they continued their promotion push.
Leeds United continued their promotion push with a 1-0 victory against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
The only goal of the game came from defender Kyle Bartley. However it was his fellow centre-back Pontus Jansson who posted some of the most impressive individual stats on the day – and not for the first time this season.

The Swede has been nothing short of sensational since arriving at Elland Road and his form shows no signs of dipping as Leeds approach the hectic Christmas and New Year period.
| Passing Accuracy | Tackles Won | Duels Won | Aerials Won | Interceptions Won | Effective Clearances | Ball Recoveries | Dispossessed | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pontus Jansson | 86% | 1 | 5 | 1 | 2 | 7 | 10 | 0 | 90 |
Against Brentford, Jansson had a passing accuracy of 86 per cent – the highest of any Leeds player on the day – while he recovered the ball on an impressive 10 occasions.
He also won five duels, two interceptions and one aerial battle while he made seven effective clearances to keep Brentford at bay and ensure Leeds recorded a vital clean sheet.
There is still a lot of work to do before Leeds are back among England’s elite in the top tier, but as long as Jansson remains in their starting line-up they will have as good a chance as any of achieving their goal.
