So, it’s officially over – there shall be no more transfer activity until January.
Premier League clubs spent a total of £1.37bn on new players over the summer, including a £100m deal for Jack Grealish and a £73m move for Jadon Sancho.
While it’s that type of deal which grabs the headlines, we’re going to take a closer look at what we feel are the five biggest bargains of the summer.
Demarai Gray – £1.7m
Nobody really batted an eyelid when Everton spent £1.7m to sign Demarai Gray from Bayer Leverkusen, after his mediocre time at Leicester.
However, Rafa Benitez is currently working wonders with the forward.
Gray has scored two goals in three Premier League starts this season, and looks to have found a new lease of life.
For just £1.7m, the 25-year-old is already looking like a great find.
Tino Livramento – £5m
It must be said that the quality of Chelsea’s academy is, quite simply, scary.
Southampton plucked Tino Livramento from Stamford Bridge, spending £5m on the 18-year-old who’d never played a senior game.
As a result of that, it seemed an expensive deal, but the teenager looks like he’s been playing Premier League football for a decade.
Livramento won the Man of the Match award in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United, and looks like a genuine superstar in waiting.
Abdallah Sima – £6.7m
Abdallah Sima impressed hugely in the Europe League last term, and scored 20 goals in all competitions for Slavia Prague.
His unbelievable efforts, aged just 20, led to Slavia Prague Chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik slapping a £50m price tag on the wonderkid.
So, how on earth did Brighton sign him for just £6.7m on deadline day?
Even more bizarrely, the Seagulls then loaned him to Stoke, but we won’t go into that – there’s no denying that Graham Potter has landed a huge bargain.
Michael Olise – £8m
Seven goals, 12 assists, one Championship Young Player of the Year award at the age of just 19.
With all of that in mind, how did Crystal Palace manage to sign Michael Olise for just £8m?
The Frenchman looks to be a truly special player, who could quite easily go on to emulate Eberechi Eze at Selhurst Park.
For half of the £16m paid to QPR for Eze, the south Londoners have found a gem in Olise for only £8m.
Jack Harrison – £11m
It feels strange to call Jack Harrison a new signing, seeing as he racked up 100 appearances for Leeds while on loan from Manchester City.
Nevertheless, the £11m deal to get him to Elland Road on a permanent basis cannot be ignored – he’s a £30m winger at the very least.
Harrison made life in the Premier League look easy last season in what was his debut campaign in England’s top-flight.
He netted eight goals and assisted eight more, form worthy of far more than £11m – Victor Orta, take a bow.
