Leeds United are yet to see much out of January loan signing Modou Barrow, with the winger failing to earn a start for the club since joining from Swansea City.
This did not stop him being called up by Gambia for their latest international squad, and Barrow repaid his nation’s faith with an impressive performance.
Barrow scored one and set up another as they earned a 2-1 win over the Central African Republic.
This was Barrow’s first international goal, and he sent a message on Twitter expressing his delight at getting on target.
Championship sides will likely offer tougher opposition for Barrow to test his mettle against, but this is potentially very good news for Leeds.
Barrow has lacked match practice, which inevitably leads to a lack of sharpness, and even a potential crisis of confidence.
Starting and playing the game will aid him in the first regard, and getting on target will have lifted his spirits as he hopes to make a big enough impression to make an impact during Leeds United’s promotion run in.
