Citigroup, Deutsche, Enron, Lazard

Citigroup is to acquire ABN Amro's direct custody, securities clearing and fund services businesses in certain European and Asian markets. The deal, which will take in around 550 corporate and institutional accounts, will add around $7.3 trillion to Citigroup's custody portfolio. The purchase price for the ABN unit has yet to be disclosed.

Global M&A Deals League Table - 2005 To Date

Thomson Financial has just released a worldwide announced advisory league table. This table is based on the number of deals firms' have worked on this year to 17th March. The table excludes equity carveouts, withdrawn deals and open market repurchases.

Enron, JP Morgan, Lazard, Lehman Brothers

Former Enron Broadband executive Kenneth Rice admitted to a packed Houston courtroom earlier this week that he and others had lied to analysts in order to boost Enron's share price. Rice said that 'the purpose in telling the lies was to make the business we had look better than it was'. Rice has pleaded guilty to a charge of securities fraud and is testifying at the trial of five of his former Enron colleagues as part of his deal with prosecutors.
