Saints believe the incident should have been referred immediately to the television match official and say the failure to do so cost them a potential victory.

Mo Farah is the latest British athlete to face scrutiny over his use of so-called therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs) after his confidential medical data was leaked online. Farah, the double gold medallist at the 2016 Olympics, is one of eight more British athletes who competed in Rio de Janeiro whose records were released on Monday by the Fancy Bears hacking group, believed to have links to Russia.

Jim Crowley rode his 100th winner of the season here on Monday and then added the 101st half an hour later to maintain his push for the Flat jockeys’ championship but he still lost ground to Silvestre de Sousa on the day as the reigning champion completed a treble on the twilight card at Wolverhampton to reduce Crowley’s lead to four.
