Records broken at Newmarket yearling sale as 372 horses fetch £84m

There were no seven-figure yearlings during the final session of Tattersalls’ prestigious Book 1 Sale in Newmarket on Thursday but, with the hammer falling on 372 colts and fillies over the three days at an average price of 222,000gns, turnover at the sale broke 80m guineas (£84m) for the first time to set a new record for a European bloodstock auction.
