Manchester City closed the gap on Liverpool to five points on Saturday when they beat Crystal Palace, but Jurgen Klopp’s side can restore that lead to eight points when they face Manchester United on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola has stated that he won’t be tuning into Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United on Sunday because he’ll be preparing for Manchester City’s Champions League tie against Atalanta.
Meanwhile, City striker Gabriel Jesus has shared that he wished Reds duo Roberto Firmino and Fabinho ‘all the best for the season’ when they were on international duty with Brazil last week, as he stated that he will be tuning into the match.
Liverpool’s gap at the top of the Premier League table was reduced to five points on Saturday evening when City beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Speaking to Sky Sports PL (19/10/2019 at 8:00 pm), City duo Guardiola and Jesus were asked about the upcoming Liverpool game at Old Trafford.
On whether he will watch Liverpool game and what he said to the likes of Firmino: “I think so. I talk with Firmino and Fabinho when I was with the national team last week,” Jesus told Sky Sports. “I said to them both, ‘all the best for the season’.
Guardiola on whether he’ll be watching Liverpool game: “I have to see Atalanta [ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League tie].”
It seems as though Guardiola will seemingly be looking back on Atalanta’s 3-3 draw at Lazio on Saturday, but there’s no doubt that he will be aware of what happens at Old Trafford.
If Liverpool do drop points then it’ll bode well for City ahead of their clash against the Reds next month, as the current gap between the two will be slightly worrying Guardiola.
However, a lot of games have to be played, including against one and another, and City’s comeback after Christmas last season will be on the back of Jurgen Klopp’s mind.
