Fabian Delph is reportedly a target for Everton after winning two Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Long-serving midfielder James McCarthy could be on his way out of Everton this summer, according to the Guardian, while the Merseyside giants look to reinforce their midfield by signing Manchester City’s Premier League champion Fabian Delph.

Almost everything Marcel Brands has touched has turned to gold at Goodison Park. Everton’s director of football has focused signing hungry young talents so far, the likes of Richarlison, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes arriving to great effect.

Delph, however, is something of a departure from the usual Brands policy. He is 29, after all, and heading towards his final few years at the top level. The England international also has just one year left on his contract at the Etihad.

Though The Guardian claim that Everton are willing to give the two-time Premier League winner a fresh start, perhaps enthused by Delph’s tireless approach and his ability to play at left-back or in central midfield.

The Sun reports that the former Aston Villa captain could cost £16 million.

And with Everton seemingly looking to bring in midfielders from elsewhere, McCarthy could be on his way out of Goodison Park alongside fellow fringe player Mo Besic.

A £13 million arrival from Wigan Athletic in 2013, injuries have taken their toll and pushed the Scot well down the pecking order. These days, McCarthy is little more than an afterthought and, with Delph emerging as a top target, it seems increasingly unlikely that he will ever play in the Premier League for Everton again.
