According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Norwich City ace Ben Godfrey this summer.

Spurs are looking for new signings this summer, having gone almost 18 months without bringing in a single player to help Mauricio Pochettino.

The Champions League final defeat to Liverpool should give Spurs the incentive to go out and spend, and whilst fans are hoping for big-name signings, Pochettino may yet want some youngsters.

With that in mind, the Daily Mail report that Spurs now want Norwich City star Godfrey, with scouts hugely impressed with his performances this season.

It’s noted that, whilst Godfrey has impressed in the centre of defence, his experience in midfield may mean that his position switches if he moves to Spurs, playing as an anchor man for Pochettino’s side.

Godfrey, 21, racked up four goals and two assists from centre back this past season, helping the Canaries win the Championship title and return to the Premier League.

Spurs face a battle though, as Manchester United are also keen, having seen ex-defender Rio Ferdinand recommend that they should move to sign Godfrey this summer.

A move may be difficult with Norwich in the top flight too, but the former non-league talent is attracting major interest, and Daniel Farke’s men may have to fend off major interest to keep him at Carrow Road.
