Liverpool are among the clubs reportedly interested in Matthijs de Ligt.

Matthijs de Ligt is a player in demand, with Barcelona and Liverpool among the clubs reportedly interested in the Ajax central defender.
The 19-year-old has been playing well for Ajax this season, and the centre-back’s performances in the Champions League have been outstanding.
The Netherlands international is still developing as a footballer, but there is no doubt that the teenage is a superstar in the making.
Comfortable on the ball, good in the air and ability to make timely challenges, De Ligt has all the makings of the perfect all-round centre-back.
The Daily Star has claimed of interest in the Dutchman from Tottenham Hotspur, while The Mirror has reported that Liverpool want the teenager and Mundo Deportivo has stated that Barcelona are keen on the youngster (click here to read more).
Former Germany international central defender Robert Huth, who won the Premier League title twice with Chelsea and once with Leicester City, has suggested that De Ligt should join City.
Meanwhile, former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes that City should pick Leicester’s Harry Maguire before De Liga.

Huth said about De Ligt on BBC Radio 5 Live (May 10, 2019): “I think for a good centre-back, I don’t think there is a better place than Man City. He is good on the ball, he does the basics very well.”
Jenas added: “I think he’s a top player, he’s a prospect, he’s only 19 years old and he has got obvious leadership qualities that his players respect, and the way that he plays.
“But I actually think Harry Maguire is a better player at the minute, personally. If I was Manchester City, I would go for Harry Maguire over De Ligt right now, I really would.”
