Liverpool and Manchester City contest the Premier League title today.

Pep Guardiola speaks during a press conference at Manchester City Football Academy on January 18, 2019 in Manchester, England.

Liverpool could be crowned Premier League champions today, but they’ll need a huge favour.

If Liverpool beat Wolves at Anfield and Manchester City drop points at Brighton then Jurgen Klopp’s side will pip the defending champions to the title in dramatic fashion.

Pep Guardiola’s side are one point clear of the Reds ahead of the final day of the season.

And according to The Sun, the Spanish coach has banned his staff from keeping an eye on Liverpool’s score during the game. A source told the publication: “Pep has been very clear. He doesn’t want to know how Liverpool are doing.

“He just wants everyone to concentrate on their own performance and win the game in front of them. He has been very strict and said, ‘We will not speak of them’.

“He respects Liverpool an awful lot but the title is in City’s hands.”

It’s certainly an unorthodox move by Guardiola, but you can understand his logic.

It could potentially be a miraculous week for the Merseyside club, who beat Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield on Tuesday to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit and move into the Champions League final for a second successive year.

That wasn’t expected and neither would a Manchester City slip-up, but Barcelona’s defeat was a reminder that anything is possible in football, and dropping points at the Amex is far more likely than what they achieved against Barca.
