The Man City captain scored a sensational goal to put the Etihad Stadium side back on top of the Premier League table.
Manchester City had a tough night on Monday against Leicester City and for a period it looked as though they would not be able to get the three points needed to edge them back ahead of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
The Foxes won the reverse fixture against the Citizens at the King Power Stadium, triumphing 2-1 back in December, and then of course there was the 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium in February 2016 and the 4-2 triumph the following season.
However, when a moment of magic was needed, it came in true silver screen script form as Mr Man City himself, Vincent Kompany, rifled home a superb long-range effort in the 70th minute which left Kasper Schmeichel grasping at thin air.
It proved the only goal in a 1-0 win which means Pep Guardiola’s charges now sit a point clear of Liverpool going into the final fixture of the season, thus with fate in their own hands.
Aside from the goal, Kompany provided other great moments in the game, such as his raking passes to Bernardo Silva, the block on Ricardo and the tackle on Ben Chilwell.
