A number of League One clubs are lining up moves for highly-rated Northampton Town defender Aaron Pierre, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Pierre has impressed for Northampton this season and he is regarded as one of the best centre-halves in the lower leagues.

The Grenada international has proved himself to be effective in both boxes, chipping in with four goals from centre-half in 24 games in all competitions.

The 25-year-old performances have not gone unnoticed among teams higher up the football ladder and they are monitoring his situation during this month’s transfer window.

Pierre is in the final 18 months of his contract at Northampton after joining the club from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2017.

Northampton would be reluctant to lose Pierre as he is seen a key part of Keith Curle’s plans at Sixfields, but they are bracing themselves for interest in the powerful defender before the close of the transfer window.
