Borna Barisic has missed the last few Rangers games through injury and Jon Flanagan has shone for the Gers in his absence.

Jon Flanagan moved to Rangers on a free transfer in the summer, with designs on getting his career back on track after injuries ruined his prospects at Liverpool. And the 25-year-old is certainly on the right track.

Flanagan has been hugely impressive in recent weeks, overcoming a rusty start to win over supporters with his full-blooded challenges and commendable work rate up and down the flanks.

The versatile full-back was excellent on the left in 3-1 wins against Rapid Vienna and Hearts prior to the international break. And he is expected to retain his place this weekend as Rangers face Hamilton.

Because, according to the Daily Record, Croatian international Borna Barisic is set to miss out on the trip to Hamilton with an ongoing injury.

Barisic arrived at Ibrox in a £2.2 million deal from NK Osijek in August and established himself as Rangers’ first-choice left-back with his pinpoint crosses proving a major asset.

But Barisic could struggle to get back in the starting XI with Flanagan starring in his absence. Should the one-time Liverpool wonder-kid impress again away to Hamilton, Barisic could perhaps be set for a longer period on the sidelines than anyone expected.
