Rangers were linked with bringing Elvir Koljic to Ibrox this summer.

Rangers made a whole raft of changes this summer, bringing in 15 signings whilst letting 25 players leave the club either on loan or permanently.

The Gers landed two strikers over the summer to bolster Steven Gerrard’s options, with Kyle Lafferty and Umar Sadiq arriving from Hearts and Roma respectively.

With Joe Dodoo, Kenny Miller and Eduardo Herrera all moving on, and Jason Cummings returning to Nottingham Forest, it was imperative that Rangers brought in more firepower.

So far, Lafferty has fared well with four goals in 10 outings, but Sadiq has yet to even make a single start, and his loan move may well be cut short in January if he doesn’t begin to feature more regularly.

Rangers may look to another striker in January, and whilst Sadiq is struggling, one of their alleged summer targets is thriving away from Ibrox.

Back in August, Krupa president Drasko Ilic claimed to BIH that Rangers made a move to sign striker Elvir Koljic, before he ended up heading to Romania with Universitatea Craiova instead.

Mexico's Jesus Gallardo (L) jumps for a header against Bosnia and Herzegovina's Elvir Koljic during a friendly football game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on January 31, 2018.

The 23-year-old target man hit eight goals in seven games to start the season in Bosnia, and has now scored five goals in five games for Universitatea Craiova, becoming a star in the early stages of his career in Romania.

If Koljic really was on the Rangers radar, then they should still be keeping tabs on him, as whilst a January move can’t happen having played for two clubs already this term, Rangers should be looking to Koljic for a potential summer move to bolster Gerrard’s goalscoring options.
