Tottenham Hotspur failed to bring Cengiz Under to the Premier League in 2017 with the Turkish winger moving to Serie A with Roma instead

Cengiz Under certainly showed Tottenham Hotspur what they were missing out on last season.
According to Ajansspor, the fresh-faced Turkish attacker was close to joining Spurs in the summer of 2017, only for Roma to beat them to the punch by tying up an £11.7 million deal.
Under then went on to enjoy a fine debut season at the Stadio Olimpico, scoring eight goals in all competitions and impressing in the Champions League as Roma reached the semi-finals. The 21-year-old looks even better in the early weeks of 2018/19 too, setting up four goals in just eight games already.
As a result, his price-tag has soared. But, according to CalcioNews24, this has not stopped Tottenham from keeping tabs on his development in Italy.
It is understood that Spurs, as well as North London rivals Arsenal and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, are still very much interested in the gifted right-winger.

Though Tottenham would have to pay a lot more than £11.7 million. The report adds that Roma are in negotiations to hand Under a new contract which could contain a release clause in the region of £50 million.
Though after failing to spend a single penny on new signings this summer, at least Spurs have some funds backed up.
