Jordan Rossiter has barely figured for Rangers since signing in 2016.

Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter stands head and shoulders above his teammates as the club’s most frustrating player.

Rossiter clearly has talent, as an England youth international and ex-Liverpool talent.

Rangers fans just haven’t seen it. Rossiter has only made 10 appearances since joining the Ibrox side in 2016.

A succession of injuries are the reason, with plenty of false dawns.

Rossiter is currently fit and has been in training for Rangers all month.

This week he started for Rangers’ under-20 side in their 6-2 win over Motherwell.

Rossiter was substituted at half-time as Rangers protected their senior players.

Along with new signing Eros Grezda, Umar Sadiq and Lee Wallace, Rossiter only played for 45 minutes.

This leads to the possibility Rossiter, along with the aforementioned trio, could be in consideration for Rangers’ League Cup clash with Ayr this week.

Rangers play in the quarter-finals against the Championship leaders, and with a chance of silverware available, they cannot afford to throw it away by rotating too much.

Yet this is also likely to be Rossiter’s best chance of game time this season so far, and after coming through Monday’s under-20 game unscathed, there is a chance.

Rangers were looking to protect their first team quartet by limited their minutes. Could Rossiter have a chance of featuring at Ibrox on Wednesday night?
