Tavernier has tied his future to the Gers until 2022, a big show of commitment by both club and player.
Tavernier has become a fan favourite since signing from Wigan Athletic in 2015.
Successive managers have been impressed with Tavernier and kept him in the team as captain.
Tavernier himself has rejected overtures from clubs back in England and his new contract is a reward for his loyalty as well as his strong performances.
He told the club website that he was delighted to stay put and thanked Rangers for reinvigorating his career.
