A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Filip Benkovic's Hoops debut display which came during the goalless draw with St Mirren on Friday night.
Brendan Rodgers' men had the opportunity to move level on points with Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership against the struggling home side, but were unable to find the back of the net on a frustrating night.
Olivier Ntcham was sent off after a number of challenges and St Mirren certainly threatened to cause an upset in Oran Kearney's first game in charge.
The game may have been forgettable for most Celtic supporters, but it was notable for Benkovic as Rodgers handed him the chance to make his first start for the club following his loan switch from Leicester City in the summer.
The youngster joined Dedryck Boyata and Kristoffer Ajer as part of a back three for the first hour, and his display seemed to attract a slightly mixed response that was largely positive.
A number of fans were impressed with Benkovic's passing ability - he attempted some ambitious long-range balls to his teammates and had some success - and felt that he could prove to be a very good signing on loan.
There is some concern that he may not be the kind of player who will improve Celtic's defensive ranks, but the majority of the fans appear to be optimistic after he got an hour under his belt on Friday night.
Here is what some of the Celtic fans made of Benkovic's debut...
Brown was superb tonight. Just lack-lustre and lacked creativity. That’s a home kind’ve result from last season. Ajer and Benkovic were no good nor Edouard, Rogic and McGregor. Just one of those games but still should be picking up 3 points in these kind’ve games.— Conor (@Conor_Spence67) September 14, 2018
I thought benkovic did everything asked of him. Cross field passes excellent. Can't recall him putting a foot wrong— william (@Green20William) September 14, 2018
Thought Benkovic done well— Mark James (@nwUknowIknowUnw) September 14, 2018
On the plus side Benkovic looks like he can pick a nice pass out from defence.— Celtic Wiki (@TheCelticWiki) September 14, 2018
Benkovic? Not overly impressed on what I saw there. Expect and hope for a lot more in the weeks to come— baldymeister (@donnelly7588) September 14, 2018
Celtic better in this half....I really like the look of Benkovic...Big Eddy seems to have lost the ability to beat a men...have said this a million times, he's not as good with his back to goal..unlike Dembele. much better running at the right back...— ByTheMinute Celtic (@ByTheMinCeltic) September 14, 2018
