Could Steven Gerrard bring another attacker to Ibrox to help Rangers out?

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Rangers have signed free agent defender Gareth McAuley since the transfer window closed and further additions cannot be ruled out.

One area they could still strengthen is up front, despite the signing of Kyle Lafferty, due to the demands of Europa League football.

There are limited options as free agents, but also a small handful of players who could be useful on a one season deal.

Here is a look at three potential options…

Fatos Beqiraj

Rangers’ recent fascination with Eastern European signings could prompt them in the direction of Montenegro international Beqiraj.

The forward has more than 50 caps for his country and has played for Dinamo Zagreb and Dynamo Moscow.

The 30-year-old has just become a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at Belgian club KV Mechelen.

Darren Bent

A former international teammate of Steven Gerrard, striker Darren Bent is a free agent after his contract with Derby County expired.

The 34-year-old has seen better days, but as a third option he would add competition to loanee Umar Sadiq.

Bent has more than 200 career goals to his name, and a chance to have one last hurrah at Rangers could be tempting.

Jerry Mbakogu

Leeds United had an agreement to sign Jerry Mbakogu this summer but backed out after new manager Marcelo Bielsa said he wanted to go a different route.

The Nigerian striker was later released by Serie B side Carpi, who needed the wage room to make other additions.

Mbakogu holds an Italian passport and so would not need a work permit, and could be a mentor to countryman Sadiq.
