Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reportedly wants to bring another defender into Ibrox.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Play Off match between Rangers and FC Ufa at Ibrox Stadium on August 23, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Steven Gerrard has pleaded with the Rangers board to provide him with further funds to bring in another centre-back before the transfer window in Scotland slams shut on Friday.

The Gers have begun life under Gerrard in fine fashion, winning six and drawing five of their opening 11 games in all competitions this season, but yesterday’s 3-3 draw away at Motherwell has prompted Gerrard to act.

The Daily Record claims that the Rangers boss is growing increasingly more concerned with his side’s back-line, and wants to add another top class centre-back to his options before Friday’s deadline.

The Scottish tabloid suggest that Gerrard has pleaded with the Gers board to provide him with further funds to strengthen his defensive ranks at Ibrox, although it is unclear as to whether they are prepared to meet his demands.

Rangers have one more game remaining before the transfer window slams shut – their second leg Europa League clash with Ufa on Thursday night, so Gerrard will surely be looking to get his business done before then.
