Middlesbrough would love to bring Mo Besic back to the Championship from the Premier League but don’t rule out Swansea City yet.

Muhamed Besic of Everton celebrates after scoring the third goal during the pre-season friendly match between MK Dons and Everton at Stadium mk on July 26, 2016 in Milton Keynes, England.

Mo Besic could do with a fresh start.

The Bosnian midfielder showed just what an influential presence he can be when given a run of games during an excellent loan spell at Middlesbrough in the second half of last season.

But that is unlikely to be the precursor to a first-team chance at Everton with the deadline-day arrival of Barcelona’s Portugal international Andre Gomes forcing Besic even further down the pecking order.

Though with Football League clubs allowed to sign players on loan before the end of the month, don’t rule out Besic leaving Merseyside on a temporary basis.

It is common knowledge that Boro would love to bring Besic back to the North East after a £6 million permanent move fell through on deadline day, as reported by The Guardian.

But Leeds Live are claiming that another Championship club, Swansea City, are also interested in signing the 25-year-old.

Swansea could do with some added quality and steel in the centre of the park, with Graham Potter’s side lacking a bit of edge or experience. Besic could make the Swans a lot tougher to beat and could provide the platform for a rather unexpected tilt at promotion.

The BBC reported this week that Swansea were also hoping to sign another second-tier midfielder on loan, Brentford’s Ryan Woods.
