Have Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers missed a creative way to sign Kyle Lafferty?

Rangers remain hot on the heels of Kyle Lafferty, according to Craig Levein.
The Hearts boss told BBC Sport on Thursday that Rangers – who have already seen a £200,000 offer knocked back this summer – are still negotiating with them for the big striker.
According to BBC Sport, Lafferty, who previously spent four years at Ibrox until 2012, is keen for a second spell with the Gers.
It remains to be seen if both sides can agree on a transfer fee, but have the Glasgow giants missed a good chance to lower the fee with a player-plus-cash proposal?
Levein also confirmed on Thursday that he was in the market for a centre-back after Christophe Berra was ruled out for six months, and it’s moments like these that Steven Gerrard might regret giving Fabio Cardoso the boot so early.
The Portuguese defender was deemed surplus to requirements under Gerrard, who brought in Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson, but perhaps the 38-year-old could have used Cardoso as a makeweight.
The 24-year-old might have been released by Rangers earlier this summer but he didn’t have a disastrous first season at Ibrox by any means.
He wasn’t good enough for the Gers, but that isn’t to say that he wouldn’t have been able to provide cover for the Jambos and maybe Cardoso could have been of some use after all.
