Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers sold Josh Windass to Wigan Athletic.
Josh Windass at Rangers
Rangers sold Windass to Wigan in the Championship in England in the summer transfer window, with the Ibrox club getting paid a transfer fee of £2.5 million, as reported by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner.
Former Rangers star Smith has suggested that the Gers were right to offload the 24-year-old midfielder this summer.
Smith wrote in The Sunday Post: “Josh Windass, who as I have said before also has talent but has been too inconsistent, is off to Wigan for £2.5m.
“That was good money, as was the £1m Rangers picked up for transferring Declan John to Swansea.”

Good decision from Rangers?
Windass was on the books of Rangers for the past two seasons, and although the midfielder played well for the Gers, he did lack consistency.
The former Accrington Stanley star will be missed at Rangers, but one suspects that Ibrox manager Gerrard will not have sanctioned the departure of the 24-year-old without already having a plan on how to cope without him.
Rangers are aiming to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership this season, as well as progress to the group stage of the Europa League.
