Leeds United spent £7 million in transfer fees to sign Patrick Bamford from Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window, as reported by The Northern Echo.
Bamford has a good record in the Championship and is proven at this level, and Leeds fans must have delighted to see the former England Under-21 international forward arrive at Elland Road.
The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest man, though, has yet to make an impact for the West Yorkshire outfit.
The 24-year-old forward made his debut for Leeds on Saturday evening, as he came on as a late substitute against Derby County away from home at the Pride Park Stadium in the Championship.
With Kemar Roofe in great form at the moment - the striker has scored two goals in two league appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s already this season - it is going to be hard for Bamford to break into the starting lineup, and some Leeds fans on social networking site Twitter are concerned about his situation.
I see the net spend crew are a bit quiet now our most expensive signing can’t even get a start , so much for spending big money not criticising Bamford though , I’m sure he will come good but looked out of touch and form yesterday— jason hill (@jasonhill6) August 12, 2018
I think Roofe's performances are a positive opportunity for @Patrick_Bamford to get up-to-(Bielsa's)-speed without the pressure (and negativity) that would come if he was thrown straight in without being 100% match-fit. I'm happy to give him time. He'll be huge for us #LUFC #MOT— LUFC Ninja (@LUFCninja) August 12, 2018
Has to take his chance like the rest on the bench when rotation comes due to the high intensity we play. Players will need resting.— Micky Padge (@mickipadgett) August 12, 2018
For a big lad he looks a bit lightweight. Not sure he's the target man some think.— John8oy_lufc (@john8oy) August 12, 2018
Didn’t look great when he come on did he oh well we’ve got the deadly 4 up top to sort us out all year— Luke Dawson (@Luke_Dawso) August 12, 2018
Just looked so slow long season as we know so I’m sure he’ll come good and get us vital goals— Luke Dawson (@Luke_Dawso) August 12, 2018
Can not believe the impact Bamford has had already. Roofe has been class since he got here. Long may it continue #lufc— Greg G (@lufc_gibson) August 11, 2018
Brilliant team performance from the Whites football as it should be played slightly concerned how much Bamford was off the pace— Steve hull (@hull_stevehull) August 11, 2018
Bamford looked nervous, i guess it’s understandable when you’re making your debut ,and replacing someone like #kemarRoofe I think he’ll start Bamford against,Bolton, that should hopefully settle him down. #congratspatrickbamford #LUFC #MOT— Derek-Dublin (@Ballyfermot2016) August 11, 2018
