Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has criticised West Bromwich Albion boss Darren Moore regarding speculation on the future of James Tavernier, as quoted by The Daily Record.

According to The Daily Record, West Brom wanted to sign Tavernier from Rangers in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Baggies made an offer of £1.8 million for Rangers defender Tavernier on the eve of the Ibrox club’s Europa League clash against Maribor.

Rangers manager Gerrard has criticised West Brom boss Moore for his reported approach for the 26-year-old former Newcastle United right-back.

Gerrard told The Daily Record: "James was magnificent. Good players get attention from other clubs.

“I don't appreciate that attention 24 hours before a big game. I'd like a phone call off of big Darren (Moore, West Brom boss) at some point.”

Moving on

One can understand why Rangers manager Gerrard is not happy with West Brom, but at the same time, the Championship club in England did nothing wrong in making an approach for Tavernier.

What is now important is that the Gers move on, as it seems that Tavernier will not leave Rangers this summer.

Rangers are aiming to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season, as well as progress to the group stage of the Europa League.
