Former Everton star hits back over criticism of the club.
Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has defended the club's spending amid criticism.
Campbell used his Twitter page to hit back at comments made by pundits on Sky Sports News on transfer deadline day.
The ex-forward defended the Toffees, pointing towards big spending from Liverpool and Chelsea to suggest they be targets for criticism instead.
Just watching @SkySports News and Paul Merson has just said the Richarlison signing has spoiled the transfer window! Hinchcliffe, Bent and Merson say he’s over priced yet mention nothing about £67m and £71m goalkeepers? Gotta be ‘aving a laugh ♂️— Kevin Campbell (@1kevincampbell) August 9, 2018
Everton did add to the Richarlison transfer on deadline day by adding Bernard, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and Kurt Zouma.
The move for Bernard was most impressive, signing the Brazilian on a free, a deal which surely offsets any notion of overpaying for Richarlison.
Everton finished in eighth place last season, and if they are to break the threshold and crack the top six or even the top four, then they of course need to spend.
It is up to new manager Marco Silva to help the new players gel and try and help the Toffees improve on last season.
